Scrabble tiles

Heyya!

This is my first crossword after a week of indolence. It hits a little worse when the slump comes right after a streak of constructions earlier this month. I had been trying to construct a midi for a while, and after a fair amount of struggle, I put it on the backburner and started with this themeless mini. It took me less than ten minutes. It kinda reminds me of the gym when the 10 kg dumbbells seem too easy, the 12.5 ones won't budge and there's nothing in between.

That said, I liked writing my clues for this puzzle a lot more than the last one.

Tricky Clues

6A: PIQUE is a word I learnt playing Scrabble. I started Scrabble thinking it would help me construct crosswords better. PIQUE got me 43 points. It has quite a few connotations in the Merriam-Webster and (full disclosure) I am a little scared of the word. Clicking on the link would tell you exactly where I copy-pasted part of the clue from. :')

3D: Well, well, well! People who know me in person are PIQUEd beyond measure by my fascination with trains that sometimes borders on pathological. And "standard, broad, or narrow" are different kinds of track GAUGE (another nefarious word whose spelling and pronunciation makes no sense whatsoever).

7A: Ron Weasley, my least favorite Harry Potter character, was forced to "eat SLUGS" in a classic scene from The Chamber of Secrets. I hope you did not click the link after a hearty dinner like I did.
